Meet Dr. Carraway
Dr. Adam Carraway is thrilled to have the opportunity to provide excellent quality dental care to the Upstate of South Carolina. He was raised in Canton, Georgia and received his bachelors of science in biology at the University of Georgia. He then completed his doctorate in dental medicine at The Dental College of Georgia, where he met his wife, Dr. Neely Carraway. Neely is a Greenville native and introduced the many advantages of living in the Upstate to Dr. Carraway.
While completing his doctorate, he also completed his masters in business administration, which has been incredibly beneficial in helping Dr. Carraway understand how to run a successful dental practice that is customer service-focused. Dr. Carraway is passionate about providing exceptional dental care to patients. He understands the dental office can be a stressful place for many patients and he strives to make patients feel comfortable. Dr. Carraway's gentle and caring bedside manner can put any patient at ease. He is patient, kind, and genuinely cares about patients needs. Dr. Carraway and his team are constantly working hard to improve the experience of dental visits for patients.
The past few years have been an exciting time in dentistry, and Dr. Adam Carraway is proud to be on the cutting edge of the innovations. As a continuing education fanatic, he loves learning about the latest techniques and technologies in dentistry so that he can bring them back to the practice for the benefit of his patients.
Dr. Adam Carraway completed a General Practice Residency where he became proficient in a wide range of dentistry so that he can offer those services to his patients. After his general practice residency, Dr. Carraway ran a dental office in Simpsonville, SC for a local dental group. During his time in that office, the dental group won the awards for Best Dentist and Best Cosmetic Dentist categories in the Greenville News Best of The Upstate. While Dr. Carraway enjoyed his time in Simpsonville, he knew he wanted his own office where he could serve his patients to the best of his abilities.
He was excited to meet Dr. Dickert because he matched perfectly with his dental philosophy and ways of treating patients. Dr. Carraway is honored to serve the Upstate Community in the years to come and provide excellent care to each patient that walks through the door.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Carraway enjoys spending time with his fiancee, family and friends, exploring the outdoors, riding bikes, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Science of Dentistry
Dr. Adam Carraway has always been a science nerd. Dentistry allows an outlet for him to dive into the chemistry of dental materials, the biology of dental surgery, and the physics of dental engineering. Gone are the days where dental fillings are a chunk of metal that are shoved into a hole in a tooth. Today's dental filling materials require extensive knowledge of chemistry and the precise application of a laboratory technician.
Tooth colored filling materials are complex resin composites that require strict adherence to protocols that allow the covalent bonding of the resin composite to natural tooth structure. When these filling materials are not applied with the correct technique, the patient can experience tooth sensitivity, pain, and discomfort. Dr. Adam Carraway is a scientist at heart which means he is constantly studying the latest research in dental materials and giving his patients fantastic dental treatment results
The Art of Dentistry
At its core, dentistry is an art. A beautiful smile cannot be created without the eye and skill of an expert artisan. Luckily our team of dentists and hygienists is very skilled in a number of artistic endeavors outside of dentistry. Dr. Dickert is most at home in his wood shop where he creates beautiful furniture and wood pieces. He is a skilled craftsman that translate to creating beautiful dental work.
A love for artistic mastery is in Dr. Adam Carraway's blood. Throughout his childhood, Dr. Carraway's mom participated in art shows around the southeast as a skilled artist in clay sculpture. Dr. Carraway carried on this love for ceramic sculpture where his work in high school earned placement in the county art show. In dental school, he won the "golden molar" for the best restoration during his time in pre-clinical courses.
Our hygienist, Joanne is most at peace in her art studio where she carefully creates beautiful paintings using oil and chalk. She graciously donates most of her work to various charities around the Upstate.
All of this artistic talent within our office translates to the creation of beautiful smiles for our patients.
